Ah yes, the classic film, transferred onto the CPC back in 1990 by Image Works (A division of Mirrorsoft.) These guys are known for classics such as Bloodwych, Tetris and boulderdash. So how did they fare with this one? Well read on and find out if this one will take you off your feet and into the future, or will it just make you wish you hadn't been born at all? Here goes. The plot is set around the Movie, starring you as Marty McFly, the kid who always chooses to mess with time and always is the one who ends up in the mess.

Back To The Future 1
The story begins
Back To The Future 1

Hoverboardin' the streets.

This time he has decided to travel to the future to purchase a discography of the superbowls, so that he can bring it back home, place a bet and send the bookies bankrupt, all is well, until he loses it to Griff the grandson of Biff (remember him?) so now you must chase after him and get back the book without creating a disturbence and destroying the future before you. In other words you're taking on an Impossable mission. Scene one puts you in the year 2015. Now you decide to make a very clever decision, to grab a hoverboard and tear the roads, avoiding cars, Griff and the gang and just about everyone after your hide!

Biff also makes an appearance and tries to whack you with his walking cane! Your ultimate goal is to make it to the Museum alive. This aint easy when dogs, Griffs gang, and a very long stretch of water. Succeed, and it's off to level 2. Now here's the bit that confuses me.You have to make it to the museum at the end of level one, right? So did I miss something? Because this scene places you inside you and your beloved wife Jenifers house. The object here is to get her out of there before she sees herself in the future. If she does see herself, She faint's,and you lose a life.

Final Destination: The Museum

There are three more levels, but I'm not going to bother with them, and you will find out why if you ever played this game. The Graphics are monochrome to the worst extent. A Speccy, blend in with the background effort is produced here. The sound is quite dire. A terrible version of the BTTF theme tune plays in the distance(This was written by none other than David Whittiker, the one responsible for those ropey Dizzy tunes.) The gameplay is slow and annoying and makes you want to punch a hole in the screen. The bottom line on this one is avoid this one with a vengence!

Awful, dire speccy port.
Sound is no better.
Too Slow, Makes Double Dragon look good.
This has to be Mirrorsoft's idea of a bad joke.

Kev's comment:

I am not going to bother to say anything about this. It is very shit. Forget it. Commit suicide if you have actually bought it.
